Shared file system

A shared file system is available on each node at /shared. Each user has his or her own private directory under /shared at /shared/users/username. Files are shared by a distributed filesystem called GlusterFS. It supports the Infiniband fabric and is generally fast and scalable to large numbers of nodes.

Local file system

Each cluster node also has its own local scratch storage. Use /home/username or /tmp as you see fit. /tmp is cleared out periodically, so only use it for temporary storage.

Network access

All access is through SSH through the head node “nansen.stanford.edu”.
